Mayor Cr Helena Kirby congratulated all nominees for the valuable contribution they make to life in Golden Plains.

“This year, Council were very impressed by the achievements and commitment of the 23 community members who were nominated for the individual awards and we also thank the local residents who nominated them. There were also four fantastic community groups made up of many local volunteers who received worthy nominations for the Community Impact Award – and we congratulate all the award nominees.

“The Golden Plains Shire Council Community Awards are a great way to celebrate the people who make our Shire a wonderful place to live. Reflecting back on 2020 and how our communities pulled together during the COVID pandemic, it’s nice to celebrate these positive stories and we look forward to honouring these community nominees and naming the award-winners on Australia Day.”

The GPSC Community Awards 2020 nominees will be recognised, and the award-winners will be named, at Council’s Australia Day event on Tuesday 26 January, along with the Citizenship Ceremony. Due to COVID guidelines, event attendance is limited and by invitation, however the event will be livestreamed on Council’s YouTube channel.
