Golden Plains Shire Council is currently seeking volunteer community members to join the Berrybank Wind Farm Community Grants Committee.

The Committee has been established to manage the Community Enhancement Fund (the Fund) initiated by Berrybank Developments Pty Ltd to provide grants to support local projects in Golden Plains.

Members of the Committee will provide advice on the criteria for awarding community grants, evaluate applications from the public, and make recommendations to Council on which local projects will be supported by the fund.

Council is now seeking Expressions of Interest from volunteer community members, outlining their connections to local communities, relevant experience and attributes they will bring to the Committee.

The five-member Committee will be made up of representatives of the Company (1), Golden Plains Shire Council (2) and members of the community (2) and will volunteer their service for a three-year term.

The first round of grants will be awarded in late 2022, and applications will be called for alongside Council’s Community Strengthening Grants program from September this year. The Fund will operate for a minimum of 15 years, with upwards of $60,000 available for distribution in each financial year.

Mayor Cr Gavin Gamble encourages all interested community members to consider nominating themselves for the Committee.

“By volunteering your time to the Berrybank Wind Farm Community Grants Committee, you are contributing to the success of local projects in your own townships, and throughout Golden Plains.”

“Council welcomes the Community Enhancement Fund from Berrybank Developments, and we look forward to seeing the local projects the fund is able to support over the coming years.”
