On Monday 30 July, Council was joined by a vibrant community crowd at the Meredith Memorial Hall to officially handover  $109,010 to community groups across the Shire as part of Council’s annual Community Grants Program.

This financial year, the Program will fund 34 projects, which will be undertaken over the next 12 months. These grants are supporting a wide range of projects, from new equipment to events and infrastructure improvement projects.

Council’s Community Grants Program has been running since 1996, with this year marking 23 years of Golden Plains Shire Community Grants. Over these years, Council has allocated over $2.38 million in funding to help create more than $6.8 million worth of value in 930 community projects.

Community groups, representing 30 different communities from all across Golden Plains Shire, have received community grants over the past 23 years.

In Cr Helena Kirby’s speech on the evening, she said, “The reason I love Community Grants so much is that they really demonstrate the enthusiasm and dedication that our people have for their communities. Thank you to all of our successful recipients – Council values your passion, community spirit and ability to deliver great results.”
