Golden Plains Shire communities will be able to come together to commemorate ANZAC Day, with in-person services to be held across the Shire.
Residents are invited remember and honour the sacrifice of those who have served the nation by attending one of the many services on Monday, 25 April.
Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Gavin Gamble encouraged residents to attend the services.
On ANZAC Day, we come together as a community and take time to honour those who have served our country and recognise the sacrifices they have made for us.
“ANZAC Day is an important day for us all. It’s great that there are opportunities in all parts of the Shire for us to pay our respects as a community and show support and gratitude to our veterans and the many families and people impacted
“I encourage everyone to attend one of the many services taking place on ANZAC Day, and to take some time to honour the service personnel who fought for our country and to remember the sacrifices made and hardships endured.”
There are ten community ANZAC Day services being held on Monday 25 April across Golden Plains Shire:
Corindhap
6am, Corindhap Memorial Park, 4 Hall Road. Dawn service and Gunfire Breakfast held at Rokewood Pub.
Bannockburn
6am, Bannockburn Monuments, High Street. Memorial Service and laying of floral tributes.
Teesdale
7am, Teesdale Monument, Shelford-Bannockburn Road. Memorial Service and laying of floral tributes.
Shelford
7.45am, Shelford Monument, Shelford-Bannockburn Road. Memorial Service and laying of floral tributes.
Inverleigh
9.15am, Inverleigh RSL Sub-Branch Building, 10/6 West Street. March to the Inverleigh monuments for Memorial Service and laying of floral tributes.
Meredith
10am, Meredith Memorial Hall, 61 Straughton Street. Memorial Service and laying of floral tributes.
Smythesdale
10am, Smythesdale War Memorial, Garden Street. Service followed by morning tea with location to be announced at Service.
Rokewood
11am, Rokewood RSL, 35 Hardie Street. Memorial Service and laying of floral tributes, followed by light refreshments.
Haddon
11am, Memorial Park Cenotaph in Haddon, Sago Hill Road. Service and reading, followed b refreshments at Haddon Community Learning Centre.
Inverleigh
2-2:15pm, Inverleigh Football & Netball Club, 20 Railway Street. Memorial Service at Inverleigh versus Bannockburn Football game, prior to senior’s match.
Linton
10:30am, Tuesday 26 April, Linton Community Hub, 68 Sussex Street. Memorial Service and laying of floral tributes.
