Circle of Security in Smythesdale a hit

Child & Family Services
Smythesdale

We are pleased to report that 11 families are participating in the Circle of Security program in Smythesdale, run by Council, in collaboration with CentaCare Ballarat.

The course helps parents and caregivers increase their awareness of their children’s needs and helps them understand whether their own responses meet these needs. With increased awareness, parents can expand their moment-to-moment parenting choices where needed.

Decades of university-based research have confirmed that secure children exhibit increased empathy, greater self-esteem, better relationships with parents and peers, enhanced school readiness, and an increased capacity to handle emotions.

Our early childhood educators make themselves available to care for the children while the families are in learning, so that the attendees can concentrate and get the most out of the seven weekly sessions.

By all reports, Smythesdale participants are loving all the tips they’re learning and the opportunity to expand their parenting knowledge.
