Circle of Security Parenting program

Child & Family Services

Golden Plains Shire Council invites parents to ‘Circle of Security’ in Smythesdale – this quality parenting program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.

The program aims to enhance parents’ ability to support their child’s capacity to successfully manage emotions, enhance the development of their child’s self-esteem and more.

Recently, 10 families attended nine weekly Circle of Security sessions with Helen Diamond from Centacare Ballarat and Lyndall Galbraith from Golden Plains Shire Council in Bannockburn.

Feedback from the families indicates the program has been most effective; families report feeling an increased sense of confidence and now have better strategies to help them deal with their children. They also felt the tools given were very helpful and transferable to all relationships.

Centacare and Golden Plains Shire Council will be facilitating the program in Smythesdale, starting Thursday 26 July, 10am-12pm for nine weeks.
