Bushfire survey: what makes you prepare

Environment

A group of fourth year Curtin University psychology students who are researching bushfire preparation in Australia are asking Golden Plains Shire residents to complete their survey. They are interested in understanding whether certain factors make Australians who live in bushfire-prone areas more prepared for bushfires.

Bushfires are common natural disasters in Australia and can have a major impact on communities. They are also no stranger to Golden Plains Shire, with certain parts of the municipality particularly vulnerable.

Participating in this survey can help these researchers contribute to bushfire education and preparation – this work could help organisations better connect with, and engage, the community around fire preparedness, which can result in more prepared, safer communities.

Anyone in Australia aged 18 and above can participate in this study, though it is asked that only one person per household participates. Participation consists of completing an online survey, that should take about 10 minutes. Participants will go in the running to win one of five Coles/Myer eGift vouchers.

The survey closes on 30 September. Should any of you have questions about the research, you can contact Tess Wilkinson via [email protected]
