Bushfire Scenario Workshop to Assist Residents

Bushfire Scenario Workshop
Community Safety
Smythesdale

Golden Plains Shire Council in partnership with Red Flag Leadership and Safer Together Victoria is hosting a free community bushfire scenario workshop on Sunday 2 June from 10am to 12pm at The Well in Smythesdale.

Facilitated by Jamie Mackenzie from Red Flag Leadership, the workshop aims to equip residents with essential knowledge and skills to navigate bushfire scenarios effectively.

Participants will learn more about the importance of recovery leadership and the challenges in decision making under stress, on stress management techniques and practical exercises in a bushfire event scenario.

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham encourages community members to attend the workshop.

With the recent bushfires we experienced in the northern parts of the Shire, this workshop is a great opportunity for local residents to gain a realistic understanding of what takes place during an emergency and learn valuable tips that will keep themselves and the community safe,” Cr Cunningham said.

The workshop will focus on the first few hours of an emergency or disaster and how community members can assist before outside support is available. I encourage all members of the community to attend the workshop and work together to develop a community response to emergency.

Light refreshments will be provided. To register for the workshop, visit goldenplains.vic.gov.au/events or email [email protected]
