Bridging the past with the future

Roads & Transport

The Russell Street Bridge, crossing Bruce’s Creek in Lethbridge, is one of our Shire’s older bridges at 138 years old. It is a beautiful single span bluestone arch bridge.

Previous condition surveys of the bridge, along with its predominantly passenger vehicle traffic, suggest it has another 70 years of service before it’s eventually allowed to retire in 2090. Imagine the things it has seen over this time!

This is just one of the 138 major bridges and culverts within the Shire that Council manages, many of which are historical gems.
