Golden Plains Shire Council is calling on young musicians aged 12 to 25 years to participate in the Golden Plains Youth Battle of the Bands competition presented by the FReeZA Youth Events crew on Saturday 26 August, 2023

Open to all young people aged 12 to 25, the Battle of the Bands is a showcase of young up-and-coming artists, inclusive of all genres, with bands, soloists, duo performances and digital artists all welcome to register.

The youth-led event is presented by the FReeZA Youth Events Crew, with support from Council’s Youth Development Team, and is designed to support emerging musicians by providing a safe and inclusive opportunity to perform in front of a live audience.

Young musicians, bands and digital artists aged 12 to 25 across the Shire are invited to register to perform at the event which will be held at the Inverleigh Public Hall, 71 High Street, Inverleigh from 1 to 5pm on Saturday 26 August, 2023.

Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham encourages young musicians and artists from across the Shire to register as a performer and take the stage at the event.

The Battle of the Bands is an exciting opportunity for young performers to take the stage at Golden Plains Shire’s biggest free youth event.

This exciting opportunity to perform is led by the FReeZA Youth Events Crew, who do a fantastic job in planning music, arts and cultural events while continuing to showcase their skills in event management, networking and the music and arts industry.

I encourage all young people across the Shire to attend the Battle of the Bands event and bring along their family and friends to support young local musicians performing in front of a live audience.

FReeZA is a Victorian Government funded initiative based on a youth participation model where young people lead the planning, development and delivery of music, cultural and recreational events in their local community.

Performers can complete the Expression of Interest from Monday 15 May to 5pm, Friday 9 June. Expressions of Interest can be made online at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations or hard copies can be collected from Council’s Customer Hubs at 2 Pope Street, Bannockburn and 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale.
