Bannockburn Skate Park Upgrade Completion

Bannockburn

The ramps are built, the paint is dry, the lights are up – and the Bannockburn Skate Park is now open!

The existing skate park at 3 Moore Street, Bannockburn has been closed for construction works, which have upgraded the popular community facility and addressed public safety and security issues at the site and wider precinct.

New skate elements including quarter pipes, ramps, boxes and rails have been installed, as well as a new shade shelter, drinking fountain, bike racks, lockers, lighting, safety signage, seating and electrical works. Repairs to the existing concrete slab have been completed, with landscaping to be done soon.

Local young people have been actively involved with the project’s technical and creative design process through consultation last year and engagement with the project’s principal contractor, CONVIC.

The Bannockburn Skate Park Upgrade is a partnership project with funding from the Victorian and Australian Governments. The $450,000 project is funded by a $250,000 Community Safety Infrastructure grant from the Victorian Government’s Community Crime Prevention Program, and $199,900 from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

An official opening and celebration of the Bannockburn Skate Park Upgrade Project will be held on Saturday 19 March.
