Golden Plains Shire communities will be able to come together to commemorate ANZAC Day, with in-person services to be held across the Shire.
Residents are invited to remember and honour the sacrifice of those who have served the nation by attending one of many services on Tuesday 25 April.
Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham encouraged residents to attend the services.
On ANZAC Day, we come together as a community and take time to recognise the many sacrifices that our Military personnel and their families have made for Australia and New Zealand on the frontlines of war.
ANZAC Day is an important day for us all. During the first world war, 77,000 Austrians and New Zealanders perished on foreign soil, often side-by-side.
The ANZAC spirit remains strong and it is great that there are opportunities in all parts of the Shire for us to pay our respects as a community and show support and gratitude to our veterans and the many families and people impacted”.
I encourage everyone to attend one of the many services taking place across the Shire on ANZAC Day, and to take some time to reflect on the mateship and the courage of our soldiers throughout our shared history.
