Annual Community Grants Program to Open for 2023

CSG Round 1 Digital

Applications for the first round of Council’s Community Strengthening Grants Program for 2023 are set to open to local community groups on Wednesday 1 March, 2023.

Community groups are invited to apply for funds to help deliver community projects and events with grants of up to $10,000 available in four streams:

  • Environment and Sustainability to support projects that support the environment.
  • Healthy Active Living to support recreation, sport, health and wellbeing projects.
  • Creative Community to support arts and culture projects.
  • Community Safety to support projects that equip communities to be safe and resilient.

To support community groups throughout the application process, Council is running drop-in sessions across the Shire with in-person sessions to be held from on Tuesday 7 March from 4 to 6pm at the Bannockburn Cultural Centre, 25-27 High Street, Bannockburn and on Tuesday 21 March from 4 to 6pm at the Well, 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale.

An online drop-in session will also be held via Zoom on Tuesday 14 March from 4 to 6pm with a link to be sent to all registrants prior to the commencement of the session.

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham encouraged community groups to apply to receive funding to support initiatives that will make a positive difference in the community.

“Council recognises the critical role grants play in strengthening our community by supporting local groups to deliver worthwhile projects, programs and events and is committed to supporting the development of local communities by empowering residents and community groups.

“Each year we see a wide range of applications for funding to support local initiatives that have a strong social, environmental and economic impact on our community, and we hope to see a diverse range of applications for this funding round, from all corners of our Shire.

“Since the program was launched over 26 years ago, community groups have utilised the funding to support valuable projects and initiatives across Golden Plains. Council looks forward to continuing to provide financial support to strengthen our communities through the annual Community Strengthening Grants program.”

Groups must match the amount of funding sought, either in cash or through in-kind contributions, such as in-kind volunteer support and Council is supporting community groups through the grant application and acquittal process.
