The Golden Plains Twilight Market is returning for another year for a COVID-safe evening of food, fun and fine crafts just before Christmas.

Golden Plains Shire Council invites residents and visitors to join the festivities from 4 to 9pm on Thursday 17 December at the Bannockburn Heart, Byron Street.

Generously sponsored by Bannockburn and District Connected Communities partnered with Bendigo Bank, the Twilight Market is now in its fourth year, and Council is pleased to present a COVID-safe market as a special community event as we wrap up 2020.

An extension of the popular monthly Golden Plains Farmers’ Market which returned from a seven-month COVID-hiatus last month, the Twilight Market is a one-stop shop for everyone’s Christmas needs, and will feature farm fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers, free range meats, vegan treats and bespoke gifts direct from the farmers, makers, artists and gourmet provedores of the Golden Plains region.

Visitors will enjoy live music, great food, craft beer, wine and cocktails while they shop for Christmas supplies at the COVID-safe event.

In line with ensuring the Twilight Market is COVID-safe, there will be 1.5 metre spacing between market stalls, as well as between seating in the seating area. Market-goers will be required to sign-in on entry using a QR code for contact tracing purposes, observe 1.5 metre social distancing at all times at the market, and will be encouraged to use cardless methods of payment where possible. Signage with guidelines and directions will be in place, along with hand sanitiser for visitors upon entry and exit, as well as at each market stall. Market-goers are recommended to wear masks when not seated to eat or drink. All measures are based on no further changes to restrictions, and any changes to or new measures will be outlined on signage at the market’s entry.

Mayor Cr Helena Kirby says the annual Twilight Market is the perfect place to shop local for Christmas.

“Given how tough this year has been for so many, it terrific to have the Golden Plains Twilight Market return for another year.

“With a number of different COVID-safe measures in place, this year’s market will be a little different, but you will still be able to stock up on farm-fresh produce for your Christmas meals and shop for those last-minute gifts, as well as enjoy the live music and great food and beverages.”

“By doing your Christmas shopping at the market, you’re not only treating yourself to some of our Shire’s best produce and goods, you’re also supporting these businesses and local jobs after a difficult year.”
