The Heart of Summer

Community

The countdown to summer is on! With only 150 days until the start of summer, we're getting excited about the opening of one of Council's exciting major projects - the Bannockburn Heart.

Construction of the Bannockburn Heart is underway and bright new signage was installed on site last week. With the cool temperatures and recent heavy rains, winter is the perfect time to start a countdown to summer – and to local families spending warm days enjoying picnics and outdoor fun at the new playgrounds, BBQ’s and the Shire’s first water playspace.

Stage One of the Bannockburn Heart Precinct at the corner of Milton and Byron Streets will create an attractive and welcoming community civic space in the heart of Bannockburn. Featuring new water and adventure play, active recreation equipment; and community facilities including public toilets, seating, BBQs, shade, lighting and landscaped public space, this project will be an exciting addition to Golden Plains Shire. The Heart will also be an inclusive playspace, with accessible play elements and DDA compliant toilets. As the region's only inclusive play space, this will make it a regional destination for people with disabilities and their families.

As the works progress and opening day draws near, join us in the countdown to summer at the Heart! Follow Golden Plains Shire Council on social media and share our Heart posts with your friends.

Check out the recent progress on site, despite some challenging weather!
