Leighdale Equestrian Centre Masterplan

About

About:

Golden Plains Shire Council is in the process of developing a masterplan for the Leighdale Equestrian Centre in Teesdale. This important piece of work will provide recommendations for the future planning, development and enhancement of facilities and programs at the Leighdale Equestrian Centre and assist Council to support both existing and future community groups who utilise the Centre.

The Leighdale Equestrian Centre provides the local community with a range of opportunities for equestrian participation, including dressage, cross country, showjumping and carriage driving. Clubs currently based at the Leighdale Equestrian Centre include:

  • Leighdale Pony Club
  • Inverleigh Riding Club
  • Geelong and District Carriage Driving Club
  • Bannockburn and Teesdale Riding Club.

To maintain current participation and encourage growth in equestrian activities, there needs to be a focus on the ability for local facilities (and programs) to continue to meet current and changing needs into the future. Golden Plains Shire Council recognises the significant benefits physical activity brings in improving the health and wellbeing of local residents, along with the role sport and recreation plays in bringing people together, either formally or informally, which in turn supports the development of strong social connections and friendships within the community.

Local community stakeholders have a significant and proud management of this equestrian facility. The clubs and volunteers have worked tirelessly to develop the current facilities, including clubrooms, arenas and support facilities. Many ideas and thoughts have been circulating about the potential to further enhance the site and its facilities.

Council has already completed extensive consultation with the key stakeholders of the Leighdale Equestrian Centre.
