About

Golden Plains Shire Council invited the community to have their say on a proposed land exchange at Elizabeth Street, Smythesdale.

The proposed exchange involves two parcels of land. Council has acquired five small, historic Land titles on Elizabeth Street, Smythesdale, which it plans to declare a road reserve.  In exchange, Council will acquire a parcel of land of equal size on Elizabeth Street from the Department of Energy, Environment & Climate Action (DEECA).

This newly acquired land will be combined with an existing parcel of land owned by Council.  This consolidation will create a properly aligned road reserve, allowing for improved access to Elizabeth Street for residents and properties in the area.

How You Can Be Involved

Feedback on the proposed land exchange was invited from Thursday 25 September to 9am, Thursday 9 October 2025. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback.

What Happens Next

Feedback on the proposal will be considered before it is presented at a future Council meeting.
