About
Golden Plains Shire Council invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) from community members and local industry voices to put their hand up to join one of our new Tourism Advisory Committees.
Residents with a strong connection to their local community were encouraged to apply. The committees will bring together community members and local industry representatives to act as a knowledgeable sounding board, offering grounded and practical advice to guide Council’s tourism planning.
Council called for people who can help ensure tourism development reflects the realities, opportunities and character of each part of the Shire. Two committees will be established that cover the entire municipality – one for the North and one for the South – each focused on the unique strengths and challenges of its region. Members will contribute ideas on developing local tourism products, enhancing visitor experiences, promoting events, improving signage and wayfinding, and identifying emerging funding or partnership opportunities.
By sharing their insights and lived experience, committee members will play a vital role in shaping a visitor economy that is genuine, sustainable and aligned with the Shire’s strategic direction. Council hopes to draw on the knowledge of those who know the region best to help ensure tourism growth benefits local communities and supports a thriving future for the Shire.
