Active Golden Plains - Sport & Rec Fest 2026

Active Golden Plains

Golden Plains Shire Council is hosting the Active Golden Plains Sport & Rec Fest (the Rec Fest) - a shire-wide initiative aimed at promoting sports and activities that are available in Golden Plains Shire to increase awareness, active living, social connection and community wellbeing.

This exciting new initiative forms part of the Active Golden Plains program, designed to promote active living, social connection and community wellbeing across the Shire. The Rec Fest will be a fantastic opportunity for community members to explore a variety of physical and recreational activities, offered by local clubs, groups and recreational organisations.

Community members are encouraged to come along and try out a range of activities – from football, golf, bowls, and tennis, to dance, gyms, fishing groups, BMX and basketball. There’s plenty for everyone to try!

The Rec Fest will be held across two different locations:

  • Saturday 21 February 2026 from 10am to 1pm at the Woady Yaloak Recreation Reserve, Smythesdale
  • Saturday 14 March 2026 from 10am to 1pm at the Recreation Precinct Soccer Pavilion, Bannockburn

The Golden Plains Sport & Rec Fest will provide free, inclusive opportunities for residents of all ages, genders and abilities to connect with sporting groups, engage in activities, and build community pride. It also offers an opportunity for local organisations to showcase and recruit new participants and volunteers.
