There are a range of permits that could be required to get your business up and running or take it to the next level. Golden Plains Shire Council has designed a self-assessment tool that will help you understand what permits your business may require and what triggers each permit.
Whether you are a new or established business, you will probably need a permit to operate - you may even need more than one. This self-assessment tool will give you a better understanding of the type of permits you may need and provides you with the opportunity to get someone from our Business Concierge Team to contact you to discuss your ideas and requirements in more detail.

Planning
A Planning Permit from Council gives permission to use, develop or subdivide a particular piece of land in line with the requirements of the Golden Plains Shire Planning Scheme and Planning and Environment Act 1987.
You might require a Planning Permit due to zoning or overlay regulations or other more particular provisions in the planning scheme (for example those related to car parking reduction or liquor licences).
To apply for a Planning Permit, visit the e-Planning portal, create a user profile and start an online application.
