About the Organisation

Golden Plains Shire Council employees over 240 people in a diverse range of roles throughout the Shire.

Three Directors together with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) form the Executive Management Team (EMT) and lead the organisation.  

Chief Executive Officer

Adam McSwain

Adam joined Golden Plains Shire in August 2025, bringing extensive leadership experience from Hume City Council, Edwards River Council in New South Wales, Bayside City Council and Swan Hill Rural City Council. He holds a Master of Business Administration, Master of Politics and Public Policy and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Adam has a clear vision for the future of Golden Plains Shire and is working collaboratively with the community, councillors and council staff to achieve this vision.
