About

Golden Plains Shire Council is inviting community members to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for participation in its Advisory Committees: Arts, Culture & Heritage Advisory Committee and Active Ageing & Inclusion Advisory Committee.

By joining these Committees, members will have an opportunity to engage directly with local issues, make meaningful impacts, influence the design and delivery of community initiatives or programs and identify advocacy issues that play a vital role in shaping the future of our Shire.

Committee members will work alongside Council representatives, fostering collaboration to find innovative solutions for local challenges, as well as have access to support and training to ensure all members can actively participate and make valuable contributions.

Arts, Culture & Heritage Advisory Committee

The Arts, Culture & Heritage Advisory Committee will provide advice and arts industry insight to ensure the creative and cultural practitioners within the Golden Plains Shire have a voice in response to the Arts, Culture & Heritage Strategy 2022-2026.

The committee will ensure there is a measured and Shire-specific response that listens to its growing cultural community and to learn and adapt its cultural offerings to community needs.

Active Ageing & Inclusion Advisory Committee

The Active Ageing and Inclusion Advisory Committee acts as a resource to Council on issues affecting people with all abilities which may limit access or inclusion and recommends best practice solutions to issues of concern within Golden Plains Shire.

The Committee will play an important role in supporting the delivery of the Golden Plains Shire Council Active Ageing and Inclusion Plan 2020-2024.

The Plan provides a framework to address active ageing, disability access and inclusion issues across all areas of Council’s operations. It identifies access barriers or opportunities supported by 51 actions across a suite of priority areas; social environment, support environment, built and natural environment and leadership. Council continues to work towards making the community and services more inclusive and accessible now and into the future.
