Golden Plains Shire Standpipes

Access to the standpipes operates on a permit system.  Residents can purchase a permit from the permit provider for $30 (2020/21 price), which allows the permit holder to take up to 5,000 litres of water over the period of one month.

The standpipes are connected to the reticulated water supply systems operated by Central Highlands Water and Barwon Water. This is drinking quality water and has to be used in line with the water restrictions enacted by the respective water authorities at the time of taking the water.

Theft of water from standpipes places an unfair burden on the rest of the community, as it is unreasonable to expect ratepayers and honest users to cover the cost of this water. The cooperation of the community is greatly appreciated.

The bores at Wallinduc, Cape Clear and Warrambine are for stock water supply only. Please see below for information relating to the Heinzs Road Napoleons bore.

Heinzs Road Napoleons Bore and Standpipe

In October 2020 Council were informed of structural damage and safety defects with the Heinzs Road bore. An audit was conducted and identifed a number of issues with the bore. The bore and tank were closed down pending being replaced or other options being explored.

Residents of Napoleons, Ross Creek and Cambrian Hill will receive a letter shortly to identify what their needs are for the bore.

If residents rely on this water as part of their fire plan and they need their fire applicance filled, Council officers will be present at the Dereel Standpipe between 9am and 3pm on Thursday 17 December 2020 for these residents to fill up their fire trailers.

If you would like to discuss your options for water, please call the Municipal Fire Prevention Officer on 5220 7111.
