SMYTHESDALE – RECREATION RESERVE PLAYGROUND

Construction has recently finished on the replacement of the Smythesdale Recreation Reserve Playground. The previous playground had reached the end of its time, and also needed to be moved as part of the new building, adjacent to the playground.

The newly delivered playground was developed in consultation with the local committee of management and consists of a combination unit with twin roofs and a ground level play area for imaginative play.

Construction recently completed.

TENNIS COURT MAINTENANCE PROGRAM

Tennis courts 2_edited_sc.jpg

There are 21 individual tennis venues across the Shire that provide 71 tennis courts; 61 of which are actively used. Council officers audit these facilities frequently and this data, together with information on facility use, is used to develop a four year maintenance program. From this program, works on courts includes repairing cracks, application of new acrylic surface and line marking.

As part of this program, we have recently commenced resurfacing works at Rokewood, Sutherlands Creek and Napoleons. Works at Maude have been postponed due to weather conditions.

SMYTHESDALE OVAL UPGRADE

Work to the surface is complete, with the 'turf establishment period' underway. Some minor works to the perimeter and finishing touches are to be completed. Due to the weather, matches on the oval have been postponed until further notice.

Completed roof_EDITED.jpg

We are delighted with this project! The Path of the Ibis Rotunda, located along the Coolebarghurk Creek in Meredith, has recently had work undertaken to replace its roofing.

The old roof required replacement due to general wear and tear. Council Officers worked with the Community  to restore the roof back to its original glory, taking care not to damage any of the artistic elements located on the structure.

Works are complete.

BANNOCKBURN SOCCER PAVILION

The Bannockburn Soccer Pavilion is a significant project for Council.  This project was identified as a priority in Council’s Recreation Strategy, the Bannockburn Community Infrastructure Development Plan, and the G21 Football Development Plan.

The facility incorporates change rooms, amenities, multi‑purpose room, first aid area, commercial kitchen, storage areas, perimeter fence and coaches' box to service the recently constructed soccer pitch.

Construction is now complete and Council is awaiting the official opening.

BANNOCKBURN CRICKET NETS
