The Victoria Park Committee manages the historic Victoria Park in Inverleigh, and is seeking volunteers so they can continue managing the Park effectively and making a difference in this vibrant, growing community.
Nominations are now open for Committee members to join the team for a three-year term – nominations need to be in by 11 August. The Committee seeks general volunteers, and in particular, a Secretary.
About Victoria Park, Inverleigh
Victoria Park, Inverleigh is an attractive green parkland in the heart of Inverleigh, open to residents and visitors for a variety of recreational activities. The site has various regular user groups, including the Leigh District Riding Club, Geelong and District Carriage Drivers, and Daschund Dog Derby Group, among others. The park site also holds the Royal Children's Hospital Appeal at Easter.
About the Management Committee
The Committee manages and maintains the grounds and facility, which has a clubhouse and canteen – one of their exciting projects flagged for the future includes the development of a new clubhouse.
The Committee also raises funds to maintain the facility from user fees, the collection of scrap metal and occasional working bees to keep the park and building in good condition.
The Secretary Position
The Volunteer Secretary would be required to attend monthly meetings on Mondays at 12.30pm (some flexibility possible) for a three-year term. Tasks include checking the PO box regularly, liaising with other members and following up on available grants.
