Council invites amateur or professional photographers to submit their best images for our first ever ‘Spring in the Shire’ photography competition for a chance to win up to $500 and have their work showcased.

This competition is a great opportunity for residents to put their creative foot forward and a wonderful reason to connect with the landscapes and landmarks of Golden Plains. What’s more, entrants do not need to be photographic geniuses to participate!

Entrants can submit up to three images. These might depict an eye-catching sunset, a stunning landscape, a gorgeous historic building or some of our friendly residents—the list goes on. We do ask that permission is sought for any images containing identifiable people. If children are able to be identified in the photo, parental consent is required.

Images need to be taken in Golden Plains Shire, as this competition is all about capturing the rich diversity of our municipality!

Don’t have a fancy camera? Don’t be dismayed! You can use your smart phone, so long as its camera has 8 megapixel capacity.

This competition isn’t just fun—artists can win (big!) thanks to sponsored prizes:

  • $500 – General category - Prize open to residents of Australia over 18 years - Thanks to Buninyong & District Community Bank/Bendigo Bank
  • $300 – Young Adult Prize (for artists aged 13 to 17 years) - Thanks to Bannockburn Pharmacy
  • $100 – Junior Prize (for artists aged 5 to 12 years) - Thanks to The Pink Carnation Gift Shop, Geelong
  • $300 – BOP Arts Collective prize - voucher for membership and solo exhibition

30 finalists will be shortlisted and have their amazing images professionally printed and displayed at the Spring in the Shire Exhibition and Judging event held later in the year. This will be a wonderful public event, featuring a stunning exhibition of finalists’ work, the winners’ ceremony, food, wine and live music.

Council is committed to supporting local artists and encouraging creativity, and has received sponsorship to deliver this event – thanks to our sponsors Buninyong Bendigo Bank, The Pink Carnation flower and gift shop, Bannockburn Pharmacy and BOP Arts Co-Op.

Submissions close at 5.00pm, Wednesday 15 November 2017. Return your completed entry form and images to
