The Golden Plains Twilight Market is back and bigger than ever with a relaxing evening of food, fun and fine crafts, just before Christmas.

Golden Plains Shire Council invites residents and visitors to join the festivities from 4 to 9pm on Thursday 16 December at the Bannockburn Heart, corner of Milton and High Street.

Generously sponsored by Bannockburn & District Grants, Golden Plains Storage and Stockdale & Leggo Bannockburn, the Twilight Market is celebrating its fifth anniversary, and Council is pleased to present an event that supports local growers and makers.

An extension of the popular monthly Golden Plains Farmers’ Market, the Twilight Market is a one-stop shop for everyone’s Christmas needs, and will feature farm fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers, free range meats, vegan treats and bespoke gifts direct from the farmers, makers, artists and gourmet provedores of the Golden Plains region.

Visitors will enjoy live music, great food, craft beer, wine and cocktails while they shop for Christmas supplies at the COVID-safe event.

In addition to the festivities, the Twilight Market will kick off the 2021 Spring in the Shire photography exhibition, showcasing the 30 short-listed photographs captured during this year’s Spring in the Shire photography competition.  The winners of the competition will be announced at 5.45pm, with prizes to be awarded on stage.

There will be COVID-safe measures in place, with all market-goers required to check-in on entry using a QR code and follow all guidelines and directions.

Mayor Cr Gavin Gamble says the annual Twilight Market is a great opportunity to support local this Christmas.

“It’s terrific to have the Golden Plains Twilight Market return for another year. With this year’s market set to be bigger than ever before, it’s the perfect chance to help the economic recovery this festive season."

“By visiting and shopping at the market, you’re not only treating yourself to the best our Shire has to offer, you’re also supporting local small business after what has been a difficult year. It’s really important for the prosperity and employment opportunities within our Shire, for everyone to buy as local as reasonably possible.”

“This year’s market will feature plenty of stalls to stock up on farm-fresh produce for your Christmas meals and shop for unique, hand-crafted gifts, as well as enjoy the live music with plenty of great food and beverages.”

The regular Golden Plains Farmers’ Market is held on the first Saturday of the month, except January, from 8.30am to 12.30pm. The next Farmers’ Market is on Saturday 4 December at the Bannockburn Heart.
