Below is an update on some of the road works happening in Golden Plains Shire. Please note this does not include the full grading schedule.

VicRoads also has some Midland Highway projects underway which affect residents. Learn about the Bannockburn-Geelong planning project here and the overtaking lanes (north of Bannockburn) here

Road safety upgrades

We are very excited to have commenced four important road safety upgrades. Generally, these projects involve road widening and sealing, guard fence installation and improved line and edge marking. Please note, there may be some minor traffic delays throughout construction and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. The projects include:

  • Ross Creek-Haddon Road
  • Sebastopol-Smythesdale Road
  • Smythesdale-Snake Valley Road, and
  • Meredith-Steiglitz Road

Ross Creek – Haddon Road

This project incorporates 700m of road, including an upgrade to the Nintingbool Road intersection and pathway improvement works.

Pictured at the top of this story.

Smythesdale – Sebastopol Road

This project covers an approximate length of 2.5km near the Smythesdale end of the road.

Smythesdale – Snake Valley Road

This project was the last of the four projects to kick off. Works commenced in early June.

Council will advise the community when these projects have been completed.

Completed projects

McPhillips Road & Victor Street, Bannockburn

Council is pleased to report that stage 1 of this important road upgrade in central Bannockburn is now complete, with the recent asphalt application. Traffic movements should now return to normal around this precinct. These works will complement the future extension of Bannockburn Plaza, a privately managed project. Learn more about this project here.

Further works to McPhillips Road (stage 2) are expected, following/pending Council’s approval of the 2017-18 Budget, which outlines stage 2 to be funded by the Federal Government’s Roads to Recovery programme.

Stage one is complete.

Ross Creek—Car Park Upgrade

Council has now completed an upgrade of the Ross Creek car park. This exciting community-driven project involved the installation of kerb and channel, underground drainage and sealing of the car park pavement. Pictured: Brand new Ross Creek car park; just installed!

Reports from the Ross Creek community show residents are very happy with this improved space.

This project is complete.
