Roads and footpaths update—April 2017

Roads & Transport

Below is an update on some of the road works happening in Golden Plains Shire. Please note this does not include the full grading schedule.

VicRoads also has some Midland Highway projects underway that affect residents. Learn about the Bannockburn-Geelong planning project here and the overtaking lanes (north of Bannockburn) here

PITFIELD-CRESSY ROAD AND BRIDGE, WERNETH

This project involves replacement of the Pitfield-Cressy Road Bridge and widening of the 1.5km stretch of road located between the Bridge and Main Road intersection to improve public safety.

While there are minor works required to complete the project, the area has now been reopened to traffic.

HARDIES HILL ROAD, GARIBALDI

Work has commenced to seal the gravel section of Hardies Hill Road, Garibaldi, between Bibbys Lane and Grenville Drive. This important project will significantly improve safety for local residents.

Works are due to be completed late April.

BANNOCKBURN EAST SPEED RESTRICTIONS

Residents may have noticed speed restrictions coming into Bannockburn from the Midland Highway. These temporary speed restrictions are in place during construction of a new subdivision, known as Bannockburn East.

These restrictions are separate to the recent extension of a permanent 60km/h zone also on Geelong Road, nearer to town and outside the Medical Centre.

These developer-funded works will include widening of Geelong Road at the Knights Park Crescent intersection to accommodate a pedestrian refuge. This project will significantly improve safety for pedestrians, especially school children. It will also include additional footpath connections and installation of a new bus shelter.
