Have your say on the Three Trails Project

Council is currently seeking feedback from the community and users of the Ballarat–Skipton Rail Trail, Kuruc a Ruc Trail and Rainbow Bird Trail to help shape the final designs of the Three Trails Project.

Walkers, cyclists, horse-riders and community members are invited to have their say at in-person consultation sessions on Sunday 23 May, from 10am to 2pm. The three consultation posts will be held at three trail locations near:

  • Smythesdale Hut, Heales Street
  • Avalon Nursery, Haddon
  • Dereel Community Hall, Swamp Road

Community members and trail users can also have their say before feedback closes at 5pm, Wednesday 26 May by:

  • Completing the survey online
  • Email to [email protected]
  • Mail to Chief Executive Officer, Golden Plains Shire Council, PO Box 111, Bannockburn, VIC 3331 – marked ‘Attention – Three Trails Project
  • Scanning a QR code located along the trails and completing the survey.

Popular with local and visiting walkers, hikers, cyclists and horse-riders, the trails span a total of 101km and connect 15 different townships and communities across Golden Plains Shire, as well as City of Ballarat and Corangamite Shire.

The Three Trails Project will upgrade and improve current the current trail infrastructure, as well as design and installation of new supportive infrastructure, including: signage; shelters, seating, picnic tables and chairs; decking upgrades; safety corrals at major highway crossings; culvert and bridge upgrades; spray seal of trail sections; upgrades to the Pittong Sleepover; installation of trail counters for data collection; and environmental works including tree trimming.
