NOTIFICATION: CHANGE IN POWER SUPPLY

News
Bannockburn

Council would like to advise residents and ratepayers that the Bannockburn Customer Service Centre and Bannockburn Family Services Centre will have a change of power supply on Wednesday 17 August 2016. No impact to our services is expected

WHAT’S HAPPENING?

Powercor recently advised us that they would be temporarily shutting down the power to perform works estimated to take 4-6 hours next Wednesday 17 August 2016. They advised the outage would affect the Bannockburn Customer Service Centre and Bannockburn Family Services Centre, both located at 2 Pope Street Bannockburn. The Bannockburn Library and Cultural Centre will not be affected by the power outage.

As a result, we have been working hard to find the best way to address this issue so there is no disruption to the services we offer.

WHAT WE’RE DOING

After pursuing several avenues, Council will establish a temporary power supply (generator) to both centres on the day of the power outage in order to avoid changing the important services we offer. While this will carry a cost to Council, it is far less than the cost and impact of any other option we explored.

We will be holding a pre-event trial tonight (Friday 12 August) from 7-8pm to test the setup and function of equipment. We also have a backup plan for the unlikely event that anything should not work as planned.
We are contacting families who use the Bannockburn Family Services Centre on Wednesdays to let them know what’s happening.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We do not expect any impact on services offered from our Bannockburn-based Family Services Centre or Customer Service Centre.

If you visit either the Bannockburn Customer Service Centre or Bannockburn Family Services Centre on Wednesday, you may notice a generator and temporary fencing.

Staff will also aim to use power sparingly as a precaution, so you may notice some lights have been turned off or other small measures taken. These are just precautions – we have been assured by our Electrical Engineers that the generators can support business as usual.

Please note that we also have a backup plan for the unlikely event that anything should not go as planned.
