New ‘Visit Golden Plains’ tourism website to attract sightseers

Business & Economic Development

Golden Plains Shire Council has officially launched its new tourism website, ‘Visit Golden Plains’, to promote the Shire as a great place to ‘Taste. See. Explore.’

Visit Golden Plains provides a range of information about the wealth of food and wine, nature and recreation, arts and culture, and heritage offerings of Golden Plains. The site is mobile-friendly, accessible and inclusive, and seeks to support local businesses and grow tourism in the Shire.

The new site can be found at www.visitgoldenplains.com.au – key features include:

  • The Grapevine: a blog featuring fun things to do with the family, great places to eat or stay and quality local businesses in Golden Plains Shire.

  • To do: a comprehensive list of fun and beautiful places to explore in Golden Plains, including iconic landmarks, heritage sites, walking trails, arts trails, festivals and more.

  • Eat: a list of cafes, restaurants, pubs and eateries spread across Golden Plains.

  • Stay: a list of accommodation offerings in, and just outside of, the Shire.

Cr Helena Kirby, Mayor of Golden Plains Shire, is delighted with the new site.

“Visit Golden Plains is a hub of the Shire’s natural tourism features, attractions and business services.

“The site is great for visitors, and even locals, who want to learn about what our wonderful Shire has to offer, and it is also very valuable for the many tourism operators in Golden Plains, who are listed and promoted for free.

“Through business listings – each with contact details – a visitor can very quickly and easily find out top destinations in Golden Plains Shire and connect with local tourism businesses, which hopefully convert into visits, bookings or purchases.

“We have made sure that every business within Golden Plains Shire that is involved in the tourism industry has an equal opportunity to be listed on the site.

“Visit Golden Plains will hopefully play a part in attracting people to Golden Plains and increasing the amount of money spent at our wonderful businesses,” said Cr Kirby.

The redevelopment of Golden Plains Shire Council’s tourism website was part of Council’s Economic Development and Tourism Strategy 2017-2021. The site is optimised for mobile device viewing, draws data from the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) and includes a database that enables small operators to input their own listings.

It was officially launched on Wednesday 14 March at Council’s business networking lunch in Inverleigh before an audience of Golden Plains business owners as well as industry representatives and government officials from across the region.

Business owners who wish to be listed on the site, can contact the Economic Development team on 5220 7111 or via [email protected].
