More Time to Register Your Pool or Spa

News

Council welcomes yesterday’s announcement from the Victorian Government: that property owners will have another five months to register their pool or spa with their local council.

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Victorian Government has extended the deadline for its mandatory private pool and spa registration until 1 November 2020. The original deadline had been 1 June 2020.

In December 2019, the Victorian Government changed pool and spa barrier safety standards, which includes this new registration, as well as inspection and certification requirements for property owners.

Under the changes, local residents are required to register their pool and spa with Golden Plains Shire, and have their safety barrier inspected once every four years.

To register, fill out a registration form online, download a form, complete and mail; or call Council’s Customer Service team at 5220 7111 for a hard copy.

Please note that your pool will not be registered until payment has been received.

When you’ve registered and construction date of your pool or spa has been determined, Council will advise you when you are required to lodge a Certificate of Pool Barrier Compliance issued by a qualified practitioner.
