HADDON ARTIST TAKES TOP PRIZE

Arts, Culture & Heritage

Vida Pearson’s depiction of Yellow-tailed Black cockatoos was judged best of the inaugural My Home, Australia art exhibition and prize.

The art show opened the Golden Plains Shire 2019 Australia Day Awards on Tuesday 22 January at the Bannockburn Cultural Centre.

Judges Cr Helena Kirby, Margaret Cooper and Lyn Dickson awarded Vida’s work the major prize.

The winning piece was acquired by Council for inclusion in the new civic art collection, which will be used to decorate Council facilities.

As the collection grows, it will continue to reflect the creative culture of our artistic Shire.

Meanwhile, Bannockburn artist Lyn Steele won the People’s Choice award for her striking painting of an emu.
