Golden Plains Shire Council is delighted at the recent Telstra announcement that the Dereel phone tower will be fast-tracked, with delivery anticipated by the end of 2016.

Mayor, Cr Des Phelan, says Council could not be happier for local residents.

“Dereel people are passionate and driven and we’re so glad, as this tower will mean the world to them.”

“Dereel is a high-risk bushfire area and having access to mobile coverage will provide a measure of comfort for residents and their families.”

“It’s always great to see the positive impact of Council’s constant calendar of advocacy and lobbying – Council works hard on behalf of Golden Plains Shire communities.”

“Council would like to acknowledge the work that Telstra has done behind the scenes to achieve this. It’s positive that they have listened to Council, the community and Federal Member for Corangamite Sarah Henderson MP’s concerns in this issue.”

“Council understands that construction and delivery dates are subject to change, we hope the project goes smoothly and that the base station is up and running soon.”
