Federal funding gets Bannockburn Heart beating

Sarah Henderson MP, Federal Member for Corangamite today announced a $1.2 million National Stronger Regions Grant for Golden Plains Shire Council to deliver Stage One of the Bannockburn Civic Heart Precinct.

The plans for the Civic Heart were developed through extensive community consultation and reflect the priorities and desires of the local community.

Golden Plains CEO Rod Nicholls praised the Federal Government for their vision and support.

“The Bannockburn Civic Heart Precinct is a visionary project that will transform and improve the liveability and amenity of Bannockburn.”

“I would like to thank Sarah Henderson and the Federal Government for this fantastic contribution to the ambience of Bannockburn and sustainability of this important community hub.”

“This project has been a focus for Council as we know it will deliver so many benefits to the people of Bannockburn and surrounding communities and it is great that the Federal Government recognises this as well.”

“Stage One of the Bannockburn Civic Heart Precinct will deliver an enhanced community space, including a paved plaza for events and gatherings, public toilets, a play space, paths and walkways and landscaping.”

“The Heart will also deliver an enhanced site for Council’s popular Golden Plains Farmers’ Market, including landscaping and creation of more space to expand the market by an additional 25-50 stallholders.”

Stage One of the Bannockburn Civic Heart Precinct is a $2.4 million project, including today’s announced $1.2 million National Stronger Regions Grant with a matched $1.2 million from Council.
