Farewell to Bannockburn Children's Service

Bannockburn

On 24 December 2020, the doors of the Bannockburn Children’s Service (BCS) at Bannockburn Family Services Centre (BFSC), 2 Pope Street, close for the final time, with the new childcare provider opening its service at the same location in the first week of January 2021.

Council acknowledges all the staff of BCS for their dedicated education and care of hundreds of local children and families over the years, particularly during this challenging year with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following a significant review of the BCS long day care in 2019, Council undertook an Expression of Interest process for the lease of part of the BFSC for the purpose of providing long day care services in January 2020. At its meeting on 8 September 2020, Council resolved to lease part of the centre to Kardinia Childcare Inc.

Council will continue to operate its sessional kindergarten service at the BFSC, as well as its locations in Meredith, Teesdale, Rokewood and Inverleigh. Council’s Child and Family Services including its Maternal and Child Health service will also continue to operate from BFSC.

Council has communicated with staff and families of the BCS through the review and lease process, and Council and Kardinia are committed to working collaboratively to ensure a smooth transition for children and their families at the Bannockburn centre.

On 7 January 2021, Kardinia Childcare Inc. opens its long day care service at BFSC and Council welcomes the new provider to Golden Plains. For more information including enrolment at Kardinia, visit kardiniachildcare.com, email [email protected] or call 5278 6481.
