Enjoy the Golden Plains Twilight Market

Media Release

The second annual Golden Plains Twilight Market is the perfect way to celebrate the festive season, bringing an exciting array of delicious food, fresh local produce and great entertainment to the corner of High and Milton Streets, Bannockburn on Thursday 20 December, from 4pm to 9 pm.

Presented by Golden Plains Shire Council, last year’s Twilight Market was a huge success attracting more than 3,000 market goers, and in 2018, the event is sure to be a popular event for local residents and visitors.

With the generous sponsorship of Powershop and Bannockburn Bendigo Bank, all market sites at the 2018 Twilight Market sold out in record time with more than 50 stalls offering farm-fresh produce, handcrafted gifts and artwork, live music, a craft beer van, wine and cocktail bars, fast food and much more.

Star of television’s The Voice, Johnny Rollins will headline the market stage with his laid back tunes, after well-known musician Marcus Hayden and roving performer Sam Starr entertain the afternoon crowds.

Cr Owen Sharkey, Mayor said the last big event on the Golden Plains calendar is sure to be one of the year’s finest.

“The Twilight Market was created as a special festive version of our monthly Saturday morning Golden Plains Farmers’ Market but it’s taken on an exciting life of its own.”

“As well as all the fun of the market, it’s a great community celebration and a time to get together with family, friends and neighbours a few days before Christmas; to relax, pick up a delicious dinner and enjoy quality entertainment right here in Bannockburn.”

“Council is a passionate supporter of shopping local and our agricultural industry, so hosting a market that brings growers and creative people together with buyers just makes sense. Money spent in our Shire supports local jobs and local people.”

“In 2019, the Golden Plains Farmers’ Market will have a new home in the carpark of Bannockburn Playgroup on Byron Street, making way for the development of the $3M Bannockburn Heart which will deliver a great new community hub with water and adventure playground, new Scouts shed, BBQ facilities, picnic area, public toilets, seating, car park, lighting, landscaping, and the upgraded market site.”

Please note, the Golden Plains Twilight Market is a busy event and organisers request that attendees do not bring dogs.
