Golden Plains Shire’s first co-working space is now open at The Well in Smythesdale.
Minister for Regional Development Mary-Anne Thomas officially opened the Digital Hub today, joined by Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Helena Kirby and local businesspeople Jason Masterton, Terri Pryse-Smith and Alan Smith from Smythesdale.
The new Digital Hub is a modern and accessible co-working space with fast and reliable NBN internet and strong mobile phone coverage. Located at the busy community facility in the north of Golden Plains Shire, the Hub was funded by the Victorian Government with a grant from the Regional Digital Fund.
As part of Council’s COVID-19 Business Support Program, Golden Plains Shire residents and businesses have free access to the Digital Hub for the first 12 months of operation. With easy parking and open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, the Digital Hub offers a comfortable and contemporary alternative to working from home.
Mayor Cr Helena Kirby says the new Digital Hub is an exciting new offering in the north of the Shire.
“The Digital Hub is a wonderful workplace option for both home-based business operators and employees seeking strong, reliable connectivity or wanting to collaborate with others in a bright, professional workspace.
“Council is committed to supporting local business and we are pleased to make the Hub free to all businesses and individuals for the first 12 months of operation, under Council’s COVID-19 Business Support Program.
“Council thanks the Victorian Government for funding the establishment of the Digital Hub and we are proud that our Digital Hub is the first project delivered from the Regional Digital Fund.”
At the Digital Hub, there are co-working hot desks and a meeting space to book by the hour, half day or full day. A private office is available by the hour and there is also a privacy pod for online meetings and calls. Kitchen facilities and accessible bathrooms are provided.
