Cr Des Phelan was selected as Golden Plains Shire Council’s new Mayor today at 11am at a Special Meeting of Council at the Bannockburn Shire Hall Council Chamber.
Cr Phelan has served as Mayor for the last two years.
All Councillors were sworn in with an Oath of Office and signing of the Code of Conduct, before commencing a comprehensive agenda which included the term of the Mayor, Mayoral and Councillor allowances and meeting cycles.
The new Council has already started a comprehensive induction schedule, which included a full day of briefings on Monday 7 November and will continue throughout November and December.
Cr Phelan said being voted to represent the Council and community as Mayor is a real honour.
“I am passionate about strengthening our local communities across Golden Plains. I will remain a strong advocate for supporting young families and providing opportunities for those at risk of isolation to remain connected.”
