Golden Plains Shire Council will have altered hours during the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
The Customer Service Centres at Bannockburn and Smythesdale will close at 5pm, Tuesday 24 December 2019, and will re-open at 8.30am, Thursday 2 January, 2020. Council’s Linton Customer Service Centre will also close at 5pm, Tuesday 24 December, 2019, and will re-open at 8.30am on Monday 6 January 2020.
Essential services will be available in this period, in case of an emergency. Please call 5220 7111 and follow the prompts for urgent assistance. A number of Community Care workers will deliver essential personal care during the holiday period, and Maternal and Child Health will deliver essential services on designated dates.
Active Ageing & Disability Services
Our Active Ageing & Disability Services will close for usual business at 5pm, Tuesday 24 December, 2019 and re-open for normal operational hours from Thursday 2 January, 2020. If you have an urgent matter, please call them team on 5220 7151 and follow the prompts.
Community Protection
The Community Protection team will be on call during the festive season to attend to urgent issues relating to domestic pets and livestock. If you require emergency assistance from the team, please call 52220 7111 and follow the prompts.
Works Maintenance
Our Works Maintenance team will be on call during the festive season to attend any hazardous issues relating to roads, facilities, drains and trees around the Shire. The team will only attend to issues that cause immediate risk to the public during this time, including major washouts, road hazards creating un-roadworthy conditions and trees that have fallen across roads.
Emergency Management
If Council is required in an Emergency Management capacity, local agencies (CFA, SES and Victoria Police) will contact Council for assistance. Please refer to Council’s Municipal Emergency Management Plan here.
Waste
There are changes to Council’s waste and recycling collection service over the Christmas and New Year holiday period. The revised collection calendar during the festive season is:

The Rokewood Transfer Station will be closed on Sunday 29 December, 2019 and re-open for normal operational hours on Sunday 5 January, 2020.
Bannockburn Family Service Centre
The Bannockburn Family Services Centre, Maternal and Child Health Services, and Bannockburn Children’s Service will also close at 5pm, Tuesday 24 December, 2019 and re-open for normal operational hours from Thursday 2 January, 2020.
Kindergartens
Council’s Kindergarten Services in Bannockburn, Teesdale, Rokewood, Inverleigh and Meredith will close on Friday 20 December, 2019 and re-open on Wednesday 29 January, 2020.
