Council offers to donate Create Crate

Media Release

Golden Plains Shire Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from any interested community group within Golden Plains Shire who would like to take ownership and management of the ‘Create Crate’ activation trailer.

The ‘@ the heart’ Project was delivered in Golden Plains Shire between October 2015 and April 2016 with Community Activation funding from VicHealth. @ the heart successfully engaged more than 1,600 participants from Bannockburn and surrounding areas in a range of physical activity and social opportunities.

Following the completion of the project, Council was left with some great resources which resulted in the ‘Create Crate’ trailer; a great mobile resource that community could then hire out.

The Create Crate is a 6 x 4 enclosed, lockable trailer that contains sports gear, giant games and a variety of engaging equipment to encourage play and place based activities.

Council would like to donate the Create Crate to an incorporated community group within the Shire to utilise as a fundraising source for their group and to manage the hiring of the trailer for the purpose of ongoing community participation and activation.

There will be no cost to the Golden Plains Shire community group who is successful in their applications for the trailer and its contents. The donation of the Create Crate is, however, subject to conditions, and will donated following an ‘Expression of Interest’ process.

Interested groups must complete the Expression of Interest form and return it to Council by Friday 12 October.

Mayor, Councillor Helena Kirby, says this is an opportunity not to be missed.

“The games, gear and equipment in this small, easily-transported trailer will be a real boon for one lucky incorporated Golden Plains Shire community group.

“Rather than dedicate resources to managing this great asset, Council decided to donate it to a community group instead.

“We know that the Create Crate will be able to bring activity, fun and hopefully funds and support people in engaging and connecting with their communities.

“The Expression of Interest process we are following has been designed for fairness to all groups; Council make a final decision on the successful applicant based on the EOI responses, which will be assessed using a percentage weighting system.

“I encourage all Golden Plains Shire community groups to apply – this is such a fantastic opportunity,” she finished.
