Council Budget 2019/20

Public Notice

At its Ordinary Meeting on Tuesday 25 June, Council adopted the 2019/20 Council Budget for the purpose of Section 127 of the Local Government Act 1989.

The Draft Budget was approved by Council in April and put on public exhibition. Following extensive community consultation including drop-in sessions in the north and south of the Shire, 24 written submissions addressing 7 issues were received and 3 residents spoke at Council’s Special Budget Meeting on 11 June.

In the final adopted Budget, the following amendments were approved including:

  • Locking in the Waste Management Charge (Garbage Charge) at the 2018/19 rate of $330 for all ratepayers. The Draft Budget had proposed a 2.5 increase in 2019/20.
  • Waive fees for e-waste at the Rokewood Transfer Station in 2019/20, to support a positive transition to the State Government’s ban on e-waste in bins that starts on 1 July 2019
  • Schedules added for road improvements, road widening and gravel road programs
  • Expanded description of footpaths and trails
  • Two additional FTE Council positions: Road Inspector and Customer Service Officer at The Well in Smythesdale
