Common Road Closure: Addressing Safety Concerns

Roads & Transport
Inverleigh

Common Road between the Inverleigh Golf Club and Teesdale-Inverleigh Road is currently closed until 5 March 2021 to through traffic due to road improvements and intersection works leading into the new Berthon Park Estate.

CFA and Council have met with the construction company to rectify the community concerns relating to fire access and egress. The developers and contractors have installed an all-weather access track for CFA vehicles. CFA vehicles have 24-hour access to this track and CFA will work with the contractor on high risk fire days to assess any actions that may be required.

The prevailing weather for serious fire activity in this area is from the North-West or the South-West. CFA and Council would like to remind residents that even when open, using Common Road to the west of the Golf Club as an egress road is not advisable during summer. CFA asks residents to leave early on days of extreme fire danger.

The CFA and Council would like to remind all residents of Inverleigh, and the Golden Plains Shire community, to look at their fire plans, identify any issues and seek advice from the CFA website or contact Council’s Municipal Fire Prevention Officer on 5220 7111 for assistance.
