After a very different ANZAC Day in 2020, in-person services will return to Golden Plains Shire this year.

Golden Plains Shire communities will once again be able to commemorate ANZAC Day together, with in-person services to be held across the Shire.

In 2020, due to COVID-19 restrictions, local, state and national services were cancelled, and residents encouraged to pay their respects to the ANZACs from home.

This year, residents are invited remember and honour the sacrifice of those who have served the nation by attending one of the many services across the Shire on Sunday, 25 April.

A Councillor will be in attendance at each service to pay their respects and lay a wreath on behalf of Golden Plains Shire Council and the community.

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Helena Kirby encouraged residents to attend the services.

“ANZAC Day is an important day for all of us, as we take time to remember and commemorate those who have served our country, and the sacrifices they have made for us.

“It’s great that after a very different ANZAC Day last year, we will once again be able to come together in-person and pay our respects as a community here in Golden Plains Shire.

“I encourage everyone to attend one of the many services taking place across the Shire, and take some time to show their support and respect for our veterans.”
