Come along to Golden Plains Shire Seniors Festival 2016

Media Release

Council is encouraging its senior community to get out and about during Seniors Festival in Golden Plains Shire, starting from Sunday 2 October.

With a great program of events on offer, participants have the option to be active, crafty, creative or informed, pamper themselves or enjoy a fabulous morning tea or meal – all for little or no cost.

Mayor, Cr Des Phelan, says the festival is a great way to get out and about, and celebrate our older residents.

“The Victorian Seniors Festival recognises and celebrates the valuable contribution older people have made and continue to make to our community.”

“The Festival presents a range of free and low cost events across Victoria for older people to enjoy, is open to all older Victorians and many events also welcome friends and family members,” he said.

“I hope people enjoy the events that are on offer from Golden Plains Shire, community groups and organisations – a lot of heart has gone into making this our best Seniors Festival ever.”

The Festival seeks to maximise interest and participation in festival events at local and regional levels and to promote opportunities for healthy and active living by supporting events which offer older people the chance to try new activities and become more involved in their local community.

Council would like to encourage older Golden Plains residents to attend one or more events with a few friends or come along and make some new ones. Booking is necessary.
