Cape Clear Lions Park Reserve has recently received an upgrade to its facilities as part of Council's Community Planning Program.

Cape Clear, Illabarook and Rokewood Junction Community Coordinators identified the need for upgrades to the Cape Clear Lighthouse and toilet block at the Cape Clear Lions Park Reserve and engaged with Council to progress the upgrade project resulting in a fresh coat of paint of both facilities.

The Community Coordinators also commissioned and erected a new cast iron entrance sign, utilising seed funding from the Community Planning Program.

Community Planning is a Council program that enables local residents to create a shared vision for their local community and build on the connection between communities and local government. It is a process where members of the community come together to identify their values, what’s important about where they live and what they would like to see happen in their community in the future.

Residents known as Community Coordinators play a critical role in bringing the diverse views of community members together in one local plan. Community Coordinators engage and consult with their communities on key issues and projects, identify and prioritise topics and use that information to develop a four-year action plan.

The Community Planning Program is a program supported by Council which provides the framework to assist communities to develop, implement and acquit four-year Community Plans.

The completion of the upgrades have been well received by the local community.
