It’s time to get excited, because the Stage One of the Bannockburn Heart is opening this Thursday, 19 December!

The Shire’s newest community space will be officially opened at 3pm and then open to the public from 4pm in time for the Golden Plains Twilight Market. Come along for the water and adventure play, and stay for the great food, music and produce of the market.

The region’s first water play space with splash pads for toddlers and older children will operate from morning to evening, seven days a week over the summer holidays. The Heart has accessible play elements and DDA compliant toilets, making it a regional destination for people with disabilities and their families.

The new community space also includes adventure play space, active recreation equipment; and community facilities including public toilets, seating, BBQs, shade lighting and landscaped community space.

Stage One of the Bannockburn Heart Precinct was funded by Council; a $1.2 million Federal Government grant; $566,500 in grants from the State Government with $500,000 from Regional Development Victoria and $66,500 from Sport and Recreation Victoria; and additionally funding from Barwon Water and the Bannockburn and District Lions Club. Council continues to seek government support to build Stage Two of the Precinct featuring a village green and performance stage.

For free family fun this holiday season, come along to the corner of Milton and Byron Streets and discover a summer of fun at the Heart.
