Apply Now for the Regional Youth Voice Program

Youth

Young people from across Golden Plains Shire looking to build their leadership skills and influence decision-making are encouraged to apply for the Regional Youth Voice program.

The new program is a partnership between Golden Plains Shire, City of Greater Geelong, Surf Coast Shire and Colac Otway Shire, and will bring together 12 young people from the G21 region aged between 15 to 20 years.

There are three places available in the free program for young people from Golden Plains Shire, who will receive leadership training and networking opportunities. The program will be held across five online meetings between June and December 2020, where participants will get to connect with each other, discuss issues and opportunities that impact young people and provide recommendations to groups such as councils regarding their views and opinions.

Online training will also be provided to ensure all participants are suitably prepared for the program.

Nominations are now open, and will close on Saturday 30 May. To nominate, click here.

For more information, contact Council’s Youth Development team by calling or texting 0439 879 900 or email [email protected].

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Owen Sharkey is encouraging all interested young people to consider nominating.

“The Regional Youth Voice is a unique and influential platform to amplify the voice of young people in our region.”

“This exciting program is a valuable opportunity to collaborate and connect with youth, develop new skill sets and influence decisions that affect young people.”
