And the Spring in the Shire winners are...

The Soldiers Memorial Hall in Dereel was full of excited photographers on Saturday 16 November, as the audience awaited the announcement of the winners of Spring in the Shire 2019.

Spring in the Shire is a competition for amateur photographers, and this year 60 residents photographed what they love about Golden Plains. The competition ran from 28 August to 1 October, with entries judged on impact, subject matter and storytelling. Entries must have been taken in Golden Plains Shire.

All short-listed entries were on display at the hall for residents to view the creative talent of the Golden Plains Shire community.

This year’s winners and highly commended recipients were:

Major Prize (18 years and older)

Winner: Lyn Steele – ‘Living the Dream’

Highly Commended:

  • Pauline Naudie – ‘Blooming Rust’
  • Andrea Bolton – ‘Two’s Company. Three’s A Crowd’
  • Anne Langdon – ‘The Knitters’
  • Alison Altmann – ‘Canola Fun’

Young Adult Prize (13 to 17 years)

Winner: Luca Dal Bosco – ‘Spring at the Station’

Highly Commended: Elizabeth Allen – ‘Firewood Collecting’

Junior Prize (Up to 12 years)

Winner: Noah Stanley – ‘Meredith Wattle’

Highly Commended: Jai Bennion – ‘Yellow Melon’

The winner of each category received a cash prize of $300, thanks to competition sponsors: Sonny Café in Inverleigh and Bannockburn Pharmacy.
